In February 2025, we hosted our second ‘Travel Information Night’, bringing together 30 attendees for an evening of valuable learning, social connection and sharing travel experiences. The event provided a welcoming space to share experiences and tips on accessible travel, from navigating airports and flying with certain requirements, to finding accessible accommodation and transport.
We were thrilled to have a guest speaker from Qantas join us, offering insights into the specifics of flying with a disability. The speaker spoke about the entire process, from booking flights and arranging special assistance at the airport to navigating the boarding process and in-flight services. With practical advice on how to make air travel smoother, attendees gained a deeper understanding of the support available and how to ensure a more comfortable, less-stress flying experience.
We were also fortunate to have one of our participants share her personal experiences and tips for traveling through various international cities. Her stories provided valuable insight into navigating accessible transportation, finding inclusive accommodation, and exploring the diverse cities across the world. She highlighted both the challenges and the rewarding moments of traveling with accessibility needs, offering practical advice and encouragement to others who may be wanting to get out there and explore the world. Her firsthand experiences sparked great discussions and gave attendees a deeper understanding of what to expect and how to make the most of their travels abroad.
We look to hosting another ‘Travel Information Night’ in the future so keep an eye out for more details.
